Ruth Loomis, DVM

Dr. Ashley Portmann

Dr. Ashley Portmann grew up in Texas with many family cats and dogs, and from an early age she knew she wanted to take care of animals. She left the heat and humidity to attend The Colorado College for her undergraduate studies. After college, she spent a year working in an immunology lab at the UC Davis vet school, reinforcing her desire to become a veterinarian. She completed her DVM at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2010.

For the last 4 years, Dr. Ashley has practiced small animal veterinary medicine in and around Denver, Colorado. She worked in emergency medicine early in her career, then made the switch to general practice and couldn't be happier! Ashley's main veterinary interests include preventative care, management of chronic disease, and dentistry.

Dr. Ashley moved to Bend in the fall of 2014, with her husband, Marc, and 4 furry critters: dogs Sassy and Gretchen, and cats Sebastian and Walter. In her spare time, you will find Ashley doing yoga, biking, hiking, skiing, running, walking her dogs, cooking, and trying pretty much any outdoor activity. She and her family are loving all that Central Oregon has to offer, and she cannot wait to discover more of its natural beauty, people, and pets! She is a member of the AVMA, OVMA, and COVMA.  Her gentle and caring approach to veterinary medicine as well as her excellent clinical skills have already shown to be an invaluable asset to our growing practice.
